§ Mr. Kenneth BakerThe Government's attitude to population issues is that it is right to consider the extent to which such questions should influence its policies and choice of priorities, bearing in mind the conclusion of the Population Panel Report that Britain would do better in future with a stationary rather than an increasing population. My right hon. Friend believes that people should be made aware of the significance of population trends for the quality of life in Britain. More information is required about the factors which affect these trends, and we shall be encouraging research into these matters.
