Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether the administrative area of the regional office. Her Majesty's Inspector of Taxes of Region 17, situated at Salford, includes the three North Wales collections at Bangor, Rhyl and Wrexham;

(2) whether the functional areas of Chester, Shrewsbury and Hereford collections, Her Majesty's Inspector of Taxes, and of the Chester 2nd and Ludlow tax districts include any parts of the border counties of Wales;

(3) if he will instruct the Board of Inland Revenue to rearrange its administrative areas and organisational patterns in relation to Wales so as to recognise the historical and geographical boundaries of Wales;

(4) how many Welsh employees of the Board of Inland Revenue have requested transfer back to Wales in the last five years; how many such applicants have been so accommodated; and what general steps are taken to meet the wishes of such applicants.
