HC Deb 20 December 1974 vol 883 c709W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what is the total value of grants and loans to Tanzania over the past 10 years and the projects or purposes for which the aid has been made available.

Mrs. Hart

The total value of grants and loans to Tanzania from 1964 to 1973, including disbursements from the Commonwealth Development Corporation, was £30.625 million.

An approximate sectoral breakdown for capital aid, inclusive of Commonwealth Development Corporation investment, from 1967 to 1973 indicates that the main purposes of such assistance have been support for industry and commerce, 29 per cent.; social infrastructure, 20 per cent.; and renewable natural resources 16 per cent.

There were no new commitments of British capital aid to Tanzania—except for CDC loans—between 1965 and June 1974.
