Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list showing the expenditure on school buildings for 1974–75 by each of the education authorities, also showing the number of maintained schools in each area, and the number of children in these schools.

Expenditure figures are not available, but the following table sets out the total resources allocated to each local education authority for capital school building starts for the period 1st July 1974 to 30th June 1975. The table also shows the number of maintained schools and the number of children therein as at 1st January 1974, adjusted to take account of local government reorganisation on 1st April 1974.
