Mr. Lawrence

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many road accidents have occurred in each of the last three years on the A38 trunk road at Branston Junction, Barton Turns and Wychnor Turns; how many resulted in serious injuries; and what steps his Department is taking to increase the safety of those junctions.

No accidents were reported at these sites in the period January to September 1974. It is intended to provide grade-separated junctions at Alrewas Turn (A38/A513 cross roads) and also at Barton Turns (A38/B5016 cross roads); and then to close all central reservation gaps between Alrewas Turn and the Branston Interchange.
