HC Deb 20 December 1974 vol 883 c635W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will consider providing sheltered employment facilities in Ormskirk and Kirkby.

Mr. Harold Walker

Only four severely disabled people are registered as in need of sheltered employment in Ormskirk, and only three in Kirkby. Bearing these small numbers, and the facilities available in nearby towns in mind, I am satisfied that there is at present no justification for the provision of a sheltered workshop or factory in either Ormskirk or Kirkby. The position will of course be kept under review; and the matter can be reconsidered if the situation changes.
