HC Deb 20 December 1974 vol 883 c733W
Mr. Parkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what assistance is given to parents whose severely mentally-handicapped children cannot be looked after by a special school during the holiday period.

Dr. Owen

Local authority social services departments make a variety of arrangements. These include play schemes, child minders, home helps and sometimes short-term residential or day care. Voluntary organisations often play a very valuable part in such arrangements.
