HC Deb 20 December 1974 vol 883 cc671-2W
Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he can make an estimate of the additional traffic which will be transferred from rail to road as a consequence of the proposed ending of the Hull-Liverpool freightliner service.

Mr. Carmichael

The transfer could be up to 30 additional lorries a day on the Hull-Liverpool route, 70 per cent. of which is motorway. This represents an increase of less than 0.2 per cent. in the total traffic on that route.
