HC Deb 20 December 1974 vol 883 c713W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the real increase in spending on public sector housing and private housing, respectively, in Scotland when comparing 1973–74 with 1963–64.

Mr. William Ross

Public sector spending on housing in Scotland—including local authority house purchase loans and improvement grants paid to the private sector—rose from about £99 million in 1963-64 to £330 million in 1973–74. In real terms expenditure approximately doubled. Comprehensive estimates of spending on private housing in Scotland are not readily available.
