HC Deb 20 December 1974 vol 883 c711W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Prime Minister which other Members of Parliament were named by the Czechoslovak defector who made the unfounded allegations against the right hon. Member for Walsall, North (Mr. Stonehouse) to which the Prime Minister referred in his statement on 17th December; and whether the allegations about these Members were also investigated and proved to be unfounded.

The Prime Minister

All the allegations made by this defector were the subject of close examination by the Security Service at the time. In the case of the allegation made against the right hon. Member for Walsall, North (Mr. Stone-house) I departed from normal practice, for the reasons I then gave, by commenting on the allegation and the action taken. I do not consider it would be right to do so in any other case.
