asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether the Government have responded to the recent appeal by the Director-General of the World Health Organisation for additional contributions by member States towards the final phase of the WHO's smallpox eradication campaign.

Yes. It is hoped to rid the world of smallpox in 1975 and to this end the Government propose to contribute £75,000. The necessary Supplementary Estimates will be put forward in due course.
