Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will introduce legislation to amend the existing laws relating to the adoption of private streets whereby in future the Government should provide 50 per cent. of the cost, the highway authority 25 per cent, and the frontagers 25 per cent.

My right hon. Friend has no plans to introduce legislation for this purpose.
