HC Deb 19 December 1974 vol 883 c598W
Mr. Stephen

Ross asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is aware of the difficulties facing housing associations in obtaining the approval of district valuers to viable schemes they wish to undertake; and whether he will consider what can be done to expedite these negotiations.

Mr. Kaufman

The district valuer's function in relation to housing association schemes is to assess, on the basis of market value, the price at which land is to be acquired. No representations have been made to me that housing associations are in general being prevented from going ahead with worthwhile projects by delay in obtaining valuations, but if the hon. Member has a particiular case in mind and will write to me about it I will look into the circumstances.
