HC Deb 18 December 1974 vol 883 cc446-7W
Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the arrangements for recycling waste paper from the House of Commons; and what is the financial outturn to the nearest convenient date.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

I have been asked to reply.

Classified waste paper is destroyed within the confines of the Houses of Parliament. Unclassified waste paper is sold for recycling under a contract administered by HMSO. Prices obtained under this contract vary from time to time and according to the trade category of the waste paper. The total weight of unclassified waste paper collected from both Houses of Parliament is currently about 20 tonnes a month.
