§ Mr. Arnoldasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many children were involved in reported cases of truancy during each of the last four years, and in the first six months of 1974.
§ Mr. ArmstrongCases of truancy are not reported to my Department and the information requested is not available. My Department carried out a survey of 469W absence from all maintained middle and secondary schools in England and Wales on one named day in January last, the findings of which were announced by my right hon. Friend on 25th July in answer to a Parliamentary Question from my hon. and learned Friend the Member for Leicester, West (Mr. Janner).
