HC Deb 18 December 1974 vol 883 c443W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the real increase in major road expenditure in England when comparing the periods 1962–1968 and 1968–1974.

Mr. Mulley

Expenditure in England on construction of motorway, trunk and principal roads at 1971 prices rose from £290 million in 1967–68 to £420 million in 1970–71 and to £430 million in 1973–74. Figures are not available on an identical basis for earlier years because of changes in road classification.
