HC Deb 18 December 1974 vol 883 cc438-9W
34. Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what sums of money are expended by the EEC on public relations and information services; and how much of this was made available to the British Council of the European Movement and similar bodies.

Mr. Hattersley

The 1974 budget of the European Commission includes appropriations totalling 4,650,000 units of account—£1,937,500—for information services and an appropriation of 122,500 units of account—£51,040—for subsidies to European non-Governmental organisations. I understand that no money was paid by the Commission from this sum to the British Council of the European Movement.
