§ Mr. Guy Barnettasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what funds his Department makes available to assist those professionally concerned with the education of the children of immigrants to visit the homelands from which they or their parents came.
§ Mr. ArmstrongGovernment funds are available to assist British teachers going on exchange to various Commonwealth countries, including some from which immigrants have come to this country. My Department is also able to meet the central expenses of courses which are arranged by Her Majesty's inspectors in response to evidence of demand by local education authorities. It is, however, for authorities as employers to determine in the light of their other financial commitments whether they can afford to release teachers to attend courses involving overseas visits.
