HC Deb 18 December 1974 vol 883 cc455-6W
52. Mr. Percival

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether social security benefits will be paid to the wife and dependants of anyone against whom an exclusion order has been made and who has been deported; and, if so, for how long such benefits will continue to be paid.

Mr. Alec Jones

If the family remains in this country family allowances will continue to be payable subject to the normal conditions, or to EEC regulations if the husband is in the Irish Republic. Dependency allowances payable with insurance benefits would depend on the benefit in question and the application of the EEC regulations or reciprocal agreement involved. Supplementary benefit is available to anyone in this country who satisfies the normal conditions and whose resources are insufficient for his requirements.
