HC Deb 18 December 1974 vol 883 c441W
45. Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is satisfied with the operation of the Caravan Sites Act in Greater London generally and in the London borough of Hillingdon in particular.

Mr. Oakes

I am glad to say that London boroughs have made good progress in providing sites for gipsies, despite the many other pressures on their land. Nineteen boroughs now have sites accommodating about 320 caravans. Hillingdon can accommodate 26 caravans, although the Act requires it to provide for only 15.
