HC Deb 17 December 1974 vol 883 c406W
Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Lord President of the Council whether he will investigate the stench in the Press Gallery of the House of Commons.

Mr. Edward Short

Tests were carried out in the Upper Press Gallery of the House of Commons during the afternoon of 10th December. No smell was detectable, but there was an indication of moisture in the atmosphere. This could have given rise to an odour under certain conditions. The temperature in the area was 70 degrees with a relative humidity of 59 per cent. Both temperature and humidity have been reduced.
