HC Deb 17 December 1974 vol 883 c377W
49. Mr. Willey

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the building of a new school at Carley Hill, Sunderland.

Mr. Armstrong

A building project for this school was included in the preliminary list of major projects to start during 1975-76 as a replacement project. Local education authorities were, however, advised in my Department's Circular 8/74 to plan for 1975–76 on the basis that basic need projects would be eligible for approval. A proposal that the authority should use part of its basic need allocation for 1974–75 to build an instalment of the Carley Hill School is under discussion.
