HC Deb 17 December 1974 vol 883 c413W
Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what are the maximum and minimum recorded heights at which aircraft on the present northbound route out of London Heathrow pass over the nearest westerly point to Bovingdon, Hertfordshire.

Mr. Clinton Davis

Northbound aircraft taking off to the west from Heathrow and following the present route via Burn-ham and Henton would be nearest to Bovingdon at a point roughly four miles north of High Wycombe where they would be about 10 miles west of Bovingdon. Records of maximum and minimum heights of aircraft are not maintained, but I am advised by the Civil Aviation Authority that the normal minimum height of aircraft at this point would be about 4,000 feet, but that on occasion, when the traffic situation permits, some aircraft could be as high as 10,000 feet.
