HC Deb 16 December 1974 vol 883 cc328-9W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many British subjects were killed in hostilities in Palestine between 1945 and 1948, and in the same area in the years since then.

Mr. Ennals

Approximately 350 British subjects were killed in disturbances in Palestine between the end of the Second World War and the end of the mandate. No British subjects are recorded as having been killed in the area in question in subsequent hostilities. There is little doubt that some dual British/Israel citizens were killed, but no records are kept of dual nationals living in the country of their other nationality.
