HC Deb 16 December 1974 vol 883 cc303-4W
Mr. Body

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will list every item of food, if imported from outside the European Community, that is subject to an increase of duty or tariff under the Import Duties (General) (No. 5) Order 1974, in each case stating the nature of the increase.

Mr. Deakins

It is impracticable to set out in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list of the products affected and the changes in duties. Detailed information is available in the Import Duties (General) (No. 5) Order 1974 (SI No. 2020/74) and in the orders it revokes.

A range of products such as pigmeat, poultry, dairy produce, cereals and sugar are not subject to import duties. The duties on most other foodstuffs imported from outside the Community will be increased from 1st January next; the main exceptions are duties on beef and veal, on which the next transitional change is not due until April.
