§ Sir B. Rhys Williamsasked the Minister of Overseas Development what attitude Great Britain will adopt to the World Food Conference's proposal that the EEC should double its present food aid programme.
§ Mrs. HartThe recommendations of the World Food Conference included a proposal that the grand total of food aid in grains from all countries should reach the level of at least 10 million tons a year from 1975 but there was no specific proposal in the recommendations that the EEC should double its present food aid programme.
As I stated on 25th November in a Written Answer to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Stoke-on-Trent, South (Mr. Ashley), I am now examining the detailed recommendations of the conference as they concern my responsibilities with a view to organising a maximum British response.—[Vol. 882, c. 31–4.]
