HC Deb 16 December 1974 vol 883 cc337-8W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what financial assistance has been asked for by the Board of the Northern Ireland Airport; and what amount will be given to help with the development of the Aldergrove Airport to meet the anticipated number of passengers.

Mr. Concannon

The latest forecasts of air traffic show a sharp decline compared with earlier forecasts. Accordingly the development proposals of the Northern Ireland Airports Company are being urgently reappraised, and no decision has yet been reached about financial assistance from the Government.

Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the estimated number of passengers who are expected to and from Aldergrove Airport in each of the next three years.

Mr. Concannon

The latest forecasts of the numbers of passengers are:

1975 1,380,000
1976 1,452,000
1977 1,528,000

These forecasts are, however, being further reviewed.
