HC Deb 13 December 1974 vol 883 cc268-9W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many places in nursery classes were provided in the City of Hull District Council in the years 1970 to 1974; and how many are planned in the same area for the years 1974–75, 1975–76 and 1976–77.

Mr. Armstrong

140 nursery places were provided in the county borough of Kingston upon Hull between 1970 and 1974 under the Home Office Urban Aid Programme. Humberside County Council has allocations of £541,275 for nursery building starts in 1974–75 and £432,985 for starts in 1975–76. It is for local education authorities to decide which individual projects should be started within their allocations. No allocations have yet been made for nursery building in 1967–77.
