HC Deb 12 December 1974 vol 883 c257W
Mr. Crawford

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will define the industrial development implementation and promotional powers and responsibilities of the Scottish Development Agency.

Mr. William Ross

I have nothing to add to my replies to the hon. Member for Inverness (Mr. Johnston) on 10th December.—[Vol. 883, c. 134–5.]

Mr. Crawford

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, when reorganisation of local government in Scotland is implemented, the responsibility for industrial development in implementation and promotion will be a matter for regional authorities or district authorities.

Mr. William Ross

In general, regional councils will undertake the strategic planning of industrial promotion in the region as a whole, and district councils will be responsible for local promotional activities.
