HC Deb 12 December 1974 vol 883 cc240-1W
Mr. Wiggin

asked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT the rank, grade, post, salary and allowances for civil servants whose basic pay is in excess of £7,000 per year.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

There are approximately 9,150 civil servants on rates or scales with maxima above £7,000. A full list of all the information sought could be provided only at disproportionate cost.

Details of the numbers in the main grades together with their pay rates, exclusive of threshold payments, are shown in the table below. The main allowances are London weighting—at levels below deputy secretary—and certain responsibility allowances attaching to particular posts.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

There are no current plans to disperse work to North-East Lancashire but I would repeat the assurance given by my right hon. Friend the Lord President of the Council in his statement on dispersal on 30th July last that the Government would continue to look for further opportunities to disperse work from London and wherever possible to site new work in the assisted areas. When such opportunities arise, the claims of North-East Lancashire will be taken fully into account.
