asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons were murdered in Scotland in each of the last three years; and how many persons were murdered in Scotland in each of the three years prior to the abolition of capital punishment.

Mr. Harry Ewing

In 1971, 1972 and 1973 the recorded numbers of persons murdered were 44, 43 and 39 respectively. In 1962, 1963 and 1964 the numbers were 25, 15 and 27 respectively. All the figures have been corrected in the light of judicial determination.
