§ Mr. Maddenasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will announce details of her plans to investigate the food distribution system including profit margins.
Mr. Alan WilliamsThe Price Commission is already responsible for controlling gross and net margins in the distribution system. It has been asked to keep the price of fresh foods under continuous review. As part of its work the commission is carrying out a number of detailed studies into particular sectors of the fresh food trade.
