§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) whether she has and will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT details of the local authority areas in which no scheme of concessionary bus fares for retirement pensioners is in operation;
(2) whether she will introduce proposals for a nationally-financed scheme of concessionary bus fares for retirement pensioners available throughout the country.
§ Mr. Alec JonesInformation relating to the present local authority areas is not available centrally. The Government have no plans for a national scheme, and in the current economic circumstances I 191W do not think it would be right to ask local authorities to introduce new local schemes or extend existing ones.
