HC Deb 10 December 1974 vol 883 c85W
38. Mr. Evelyn King

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the salaries for a graduate speech therapist and a nurse of three years' experience, respectively.

Mr. Alec Jones

Salaries for speech therapists have been adjusted in accordance with interim recommendations by the committee of inquiry under the chairmanship of Lord Halsbury. The scales do not differentiate between graduates and non-graduates. On the current interim scales, after three years in the basic grade, the salary would be £1,809. The committee's final recommendations are awaited.

The review of nurses' salaries by the Halsbury Committee has been completed, and, in accordance with the committee's final recommendations, the salary for a staff nurse in a general hospital, after three years in the grade, would be £1,998.
