HC Deb 10 December 1974 vol 883 c146W
Mr. Dudley Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list those trunk and principal road schemes, giving the estimated cost of each, which were added to the forward programme during the six months ended 30th September 1974.

Mr. Carmichael

Only one scheme, a principal road, A133/A134 North Station Roundabout, Colchester, estimated at a cost of £0.4 million, was added to the firm roads programme in England during the six months ended 30th September 1974. This was due to the need to review the whole future trunk road and motorway programme in the light of current economic circumstances, coupled with the forthcoming transfer of responsibility for principal road schemes to the local authorities.
