HC Deb 10 December 1974 vol 883 cc103-4W
Mr. Arnold

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek to ascertain whether the Boundary Com- missioners propose to review constituency boundaries in the north-west of England in the light of the reorganisation of local government.

Dr. Summerskill

In reviewing constituency boundaries account will need to be taken not only of the changes already made by local government reorganisation but of those which will result from the current work of the Local Government Boundary Commission. Because of this, I think it likely that instead of undertaking a series of interim reviews the Parliamentary Boundary Commission will wish to proceed to a general review of constituency boundaries throughout England with the aim of reporting in 1979, the earliest statutory date.
