§ Mrs. CastleAt the end of 1973, 3,400 beds in private or voluntary hospitals and nursing homes were occupied by National82W Health Service patients; during 1973 just under 21,300 National Health Service patients were discharged from, or died in, such beds and about 43,700 new National Health Service out-patients were treated at such hospitals. The total cost was £7.7 million.
