HC Deb 09 December 1974 vol 883 c3W
24. Mr. Tim Renton

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many groups of employees are in discussion with him with the aim of obtaining Government finance in order to set up workers' co-operatives.

Mr. Heffer

Offers of assistance in response to proposals to form workers' co-operatives have been made to representatives of the workforce at the NVT factory at Meriden, those at the former IPD (Industrial) works at Kirkby, and those formerly employed at theScottish Daily Express premises in Glasgow. Discussions are in train with workers' representatives from Propytex in Hartle-pool. The Department also has preliminary discussions from time to time with prospective promoters of small co-operatives.
