§ Mrs. Sally Oppenheimasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the 12 Royal Air Force Stations in the United Kingdom which are to be closed, stating in each case how many civilian 63W and Service personnel will be made redundant.
§ Mr. Buckasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will name the 12 RAF stations likely to be closed as a result of the proposals he announced on 3rd December 1974.
§ Mr. JohnIn his statement on 3rd December my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence informed the House of the broad conclusions reached by the Government on the general scale of the programme needed to meet our future defence requirements and the level of resources we can devote to defence. My right hon. Friend made it clear that the reductions in our commitments and forces would need to be carefully planned and introduced progressively over several years.
We are still examining the implications in the support field of the major policy decisions which have been announced and all the relevant factors will need to be carefully considered before final decisions can be taken. Announcements will be made on the future of individual RAF stations as early as practicable.
