HC Deb 09 December 1974 vol 883 cc54-5W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what steps have been taken to distinguish imports from, and exports to, Namibia from trade with South Africa.

Mr. Shore

In the past, the import and export statistics have distinguished figures for each country—including Namibia and South Africa—separately according to the country on a consignment basis. In addition, from the beginning of 1974 import statistics have been compiled according to the country from which goods originated, while exports are now compiled according to country of destination. Figures of imports from each country, on the consignment basis, and of exports are published in the monthlyOverseas Trade Statistics; figures of imports by country of origin are available from Customs Statistical Office.
