HC Deb 09 December 1974 vol 883 cc38-9W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what control the management committee of the joint Lady Margaret Hall Settlement/NACRO Bail House project, in the Kennington Road, London, S.E.11, will have over the categories of accused people admitted into the bail house.

Dr. Summerskill

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave on Thursday 5th December to his related Question on this subject.—[Vol. 882, c.580.]

Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the amount of annual grant aid to be paid out of public funds towards the cost of running the bail hostel at the Lady Margaret Hall Settlement, Kennington Road, S.E.ll; and for how long the public money is committed.

Dr. Summerskiil

The whole of the running costs of the proposed bail hostel less the contributions by residents will be met out of public funds, in part by the Home Office and in part from local authority funds. This financial commitment will last for as long as the hostel remains approved.

Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will undertake not to admit accused people to the proposed bail house at the Lady Margaret Hall Settlement in Kennington Road, S.E.11, until agreement has been reached on the legal uncertainties over the objects clause of the memorandum and articles of association of the settlement between the settlement and its landlords, the Walcot Educational Trust.

Dr. Summerskill

We shall not approve the premises for use as a bail hostel unless we are satisfied that there is no legal impediment.
