Mr. Viggers

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) to what extent the proposed cuts in defence expenditure affect shore-based units of the Royal Navy within the borough of Gosport;

(2) to what extent the proposed cuts in defence expenditure involving a reduction in the number of conventional submarines operated by the Royal Navy by one-quarter affect shore-based establishments of the Royal Navy in the borough of Gosport;

(3) to what extent the proposed cuts in defence expenditure involving a reduction in the number of surface vessels by one-seventh affect shore-based establishments of the Royal Navy in the borough of Gosport;

(4) to what extent the proposed cuts in defence expenditure involving a reduction of afloat support by one-third will affect shore based units within the borough of Gosport.
