HC Deb 09 December 1974 vol 883 c22W
Mr. Tomlinson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the industrial dispute which threatens to affect the production of the unemployment figures for December.

Mr. Foot

On 29th November the Civil and Public Services Association decided to impose from 9th December a ban on work connected with the monthly unemployment count in the local offices of the Employment Services Agency. This could prevent the December count, due today, from being carried out. I understand that the ban has been imposed in support of a demand for more staff in the agency's local offices and that the agency is discussing the situation with the association.
