Sir B. Rhys Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people's social benefits are currently restricted by the operation of the wage stop; and what is the number of their dependants.

Mr. Alec Jones

In November 1974, 7,661 claimants had their supplementary allowances limited by a wage stop. In November 1973, the latest date for which such information is available, there were 10,335 claimants whose benefit was wage-stopped with 59,793 adult and child dependants.
