HC Deb 06 December 1974 vol 882 c656W
Mr. Townsend

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take steps designed to speed up the building of new homes in London's dockland.

Mr. Freeson

Three sites, totalling 177 acres, have already been made available in dockland for early housing development. They will provide about 2,200 dwellings, and construction is expected to begin in 1975. I trust that the Docklands Joint Committee, which was set up early this year, will secure the redevelopment of the area, including the provision of much further housing, with all possible speed.
