asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many home helps are employed by each social services department in Wales; what is the whole. time equivalent; and what is the whole. time equivalent per 1,000 population aged 65 years or over.

There were 6,434 home helps in social services departments in Wales at 30th September 1973. Of these, 109 were full.time and 6,325 part. time, giving a total whole.time equivalent of 2,643.5. This figure corresponds to a rate of 6.75 per 1,000 population aged 65 and over. The geographical distribution was as follows:

chiropodists are employed by each area health authority in Wales; what is the whole.time equivalent; and what is the whole.time equivalent per 1,000 population aged 65 years or over.

There were 227 trained chiropodists in Wales at 30th September 1973. This corresponds to a total whole.time equivalent of 78–28 and gives a rate of 0.2 whole.time equivalent per 1,000 population aged 65 and over.
