HC Deb 06 December 1974 vol 882 c673W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether it is his intention to hold a public inquiry into the future use of the East and West Bog Meadows, Belfast; and what is the reason for the decision by the Government to depart from the earlier decision to reserve these two areas as open spaces for playing fields.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

No.

Planning permission has now been given to develop land in West Bog Meadows for industrial rather than recreational use, on the grounds that the social and economic interests of Belfast can best be served by using the land for industry.
