§ Mr. StrangEnforcement of the regulations governing hygiene and prevention 547W of cruelty in slaughterhouses is a local authority responsibility. These regulations are reviewed periodically and proposals for the updating and strengthening of the Slaughterhouses (Hygiene) Regulations 1958 are at present the subject of consultation with trade and other interests.
