Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Minister for the Civil Service what were the total sums spent by the Government in 1973 on advertising in the English and Welsh languages, respectively.

In the financial year 1973–74 the amounts spent by the Government on non-recruitment Press advertising in newspapers published in Wales were:

English language 57,865
Welsh language 5,800

indictable offences in Greater London for each of the years 1966 to 1973 and for the longest period in 1974 for which figures are available.

The average waiting times for 1972, 1973 and the first nine months of 1974 are set out in the following table:
