Mr. Cryer

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the number of persons (a) killed and (b) injured, necessitating three days or more off work, employed in agriculture during 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973.

Mr. Strang

During these four years fatal accidents to farm workers in England and Wales totalled 31, 47, 40 and 31 respectively. Available statistics for absences relate to periods of more than three days, whether due to injury or prescribed disesases, and are 6,291, 5,711, 5,755 and 5,259 respectively.
